Since Iím such a music junkie, Iíve always been a fan of Sony Ericsson phones for their wonderful sound capacity. But somehow the idea of a Game ñ Centric Smart Phone seems a little odd.
The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play does not look like a phone thatís really worth enjoying the ownership of. This is because of the lack of applications that it comes preloaded with. Sure the games work pretty well but as far as features regarding most Smartphones go, this one seems a little lagging in that sphere.
The Xperia Play comes with six pre installed games for your gaming pleasure. These are Bruce Lee, Madden 2011, Asphalt 6, Star Battalion, Sims 3 and Crash Bandicoot. Again these games are fairly fun to play on the phone, itís just that with the other phones that are coming out now, they exhibit Sony Playstation playability on them.
However, from a technical standpoint, the Xperia play exhibits potential. The PSP-esque look that it has is extremely cool and performs pretty well. The phone is surprisingly sensitive to any thumb movements and this helps a lot during using or playing on the phone. However the secondary controls do not function on some of the games.
Here are my ratings out of ten for this one. For itís performance, Iíd give it a 7.5 because most of the games run well, but as far as performance is concerned, it lags behind when compared to other smartphones. For its build quality, Iíd give it a 6 as it is quite susceptible to smudging but built fairly well. Its features would get a 7 as it has all standard features but lacks in premium ones. As far as value for money goes, Iíd give it a 5 as there are way better handsets than this one but that depends on how much of a gamer you yourself might be.
