Many times we pass by lots of attractions simply because we’re in NYC but the American Museum of Natural History is still as fun as it ever was as a child. Some of the most memorable and impressive are the permanent exhibitions like the Hall of Ornithischian Dinosaurs, Hall of North American Mammals, Hall of Vertebrate Origins, Irma and Paul Milstein Family Hall of Ocean Life just make learning fun! If you’re visiting NYC the AMNH is a wonderful day to spend the morning and afternoon. Give yourself plenty of time as you’ll want to crawl the entire museum!

If space is your thing, you’ve come to the right place. The Rose Center for Earth and Space features the Hayden Big Bang Theater a scientific look into the Big Bang Theory utilizing the lower half the Hayden Sphere. Witness the birth of the universe on the large concave viewing screen as the wonders of the universe unfold in front of you.

Hayden Planetarium

The Hayden Planetarium space show, part of the Rose Center for Earth and Space is always a winner and better than ever with its latest feature “Dark Universe”. Explore and gain insight and knowledge into the structure and history of the universe and our place in it. See spectacular visualizations of the Milky Way Galaxy and travel 100 million light years away from the Earth with astrophysicist and experts using the latest scientific data available. If space isn’t your thing, the Hayden also features 2D and 3D movies like MacGillivray Freeman Film’s National Parks Adventure which takes you off-trail into the great outdoors and wilderness of America’s national parks as captured by the IMAX 3D cameras.

You can even catch special presentations like Manhattanhenge which showcases the beautiful phenomenon where the Sunset aligns perfectly with Manhattan’s East/West numbered streets July 12th.

Crocs: Live Animal Exhibition

The AMNH currently showing off it’s Crocs: Live Animal Exhibition. A group of reptiles that includes crocodiles, alligators, caimans, and gharials.

AMNH Night at the Museum for Adults

A Night at the Museum Sleepovers

You can even have a sleepover at the Museum with the AMNH “A Night at the Museum Sleepover for Grown-Ups” ages 21 and over. Future dates include August 5th, October 1st and December 17th. Enjoy a Champagne reception and music provided by the 12th Night Jass Trio while exploring a nearly empty museum all to yourselves and unpack your sleeping bag and snooze next to Mr 65-million-year-old T-Rex or under the 94-foot-long blue whale in the Milstein Hall of Ocean Life.
