There have been rumors going about on the internet that a diesel powered Chevrolet is about to make its way into the market ever since the release of their Sedan last year, but for now we have an official news update that the United States is most definitely going to see a Diesel Cruze most probably sometime in 2013.

As of now, there have been no official updates about the specifications of the model but there are a few rumors floating about it on the net. The car is most likely to possess a 2.0 liter engine that will pack power of up to 147 hp. It will also have a 235 lb ft. of torque power. However in Australia, the Holden Cruze already has a 2.0 liter diesel engine with 265 lb ft of torque power as well as 160 horsepower.

Since GM already wishes to use this particular diesel model as the Cruze’s raison d’etre, we wouldn’t be too unsurprised if we saw an engine that was more efficient but less powerful. We’ve already seen that the Cruze Eco, which has an engine of  1.4 liters also has a capacity of  138 horsepower as well as a torque of  148 lb ft. It can also gives us mileage to the gallon of about 48 miles on the highway.

So until the Cruze is actually released, this is all the info about the car that we can give you. If you do come across any other certain specifications, then please do add them in the comments. Thanks guys.
