The Toshiba Thrive tablet is not exactly a piece of eye candy. But if you’re reading this review, it already means that you want to look past its awkward exterior and want to see if it actually has good features. Well, your instincts have guided you to the right place if you’re looking for a device that offers ample full sized ports, Android 3.1 Honeycomb, as well as a swappable battery.
The Toshiba Thrive has a 16:10 aspect ratio as well as a high resolution of 1280×800 on a 10.1 inch screen. The viewing quality is excellent as any one would expect from an IPS panel. It is also a slight bit thinner and longer than the iPad 2. The widescreen is perfect for when you’re watching movies, but it would be quite inconvenient if you try to hold it one hand and try to navigate on it with the other.
Inside the Thrive, we see that it has a 1GB NVIDIA dual core processor and a Gig of RAM. There are also three option for onboard flash memory: 8 GB, 16 GB, and 32 GB. One of the major strengths of the Thrive is the huge variety of SD cards that it can support. These include the standard SD, SDHC and SDXC cards.
If you’re looking for something that looks trendy then this one would not necessarily be meant for you. But if you’re looking for utility over looks, then we recommend the Toshiba Thrive.
