Tips for Wearing a Suit in the Summertime

Weddings, graduations, and other special occasions sometimes take place outside during the summertime. While the warm weather is pleasant, it can quickly become miserable if you wear a heavy suit. Additionally, the last thing you want to see is sweat stains on your expensive suit. While you can style short suits to help with the weather, they are not always appropriate for formal occasions, and they do not fit everyone’s sense of style. Thankfully, there are other tips for staying cool while looking fashionable. If you want to look stylish and remain cool and comfortable, you will need to use these tips for wearing a suit in the summertime.

Wear the Right Fabric

If you wear a suit made of heavy, thick fabric, the warm weather will probably make your event miserable. One of the things you should know about linen suits is that they are light and perfect to wear during the summertime. A few other materials to consider are cotton, silk, and high twist wool. With linen suits, you can comfortably enjoy your event and stay cool.

Choose Your Colors Wisely

When choosing a suit for the summertime, you will need to find light colors. Dark colors, such as black and dark blue, absorb light and heat, while lighter colors reflect it. Some of the best colors to wear for summer are tan, light blue, light grey, and more. Since some people’s upper bodies sweat more, it’s always best to use a light-colored blazer. For example, you can choose a light blue Oxford blazer instead of a navy-blue one, which is one of the top 5 blazers you will need this summer.

Undershirts Are a Necessity

Unfortunately, if you walk around during the summer heat, you will probably sweat at some point throughout the day. It is difficult to get sweat stains out of your suit, and it isn’t the best look for a formal event. One quick and easy way to prevent sweat stains is to wear an undershirt. While it may seem strange to layer in the summer, a lightweight, breathable undershirt absorbs the sweat and prevents it from staining your suit. Before you put on a suit, always remember to layer with a comfortable undershirt.

Consider Half-Lined Suits

Half-lined or quarter-lined suits are another way to stay cool in your suit. The lining adds structure and shape to a suit, so it’s best not to remove it completely unless it is necessary. However, by reducing the amount of lining in your suit, you make it cooler and more comfortable for warmer weather.

Take Your Jacket off Occasionally

Another one of the tips for wearing a suit in the summertime is to take off your jacket occasionally. If you walk around during a celebration, you can probably take off your jacket and fold it neatly against your arm. This will give you a little time to cool down and relax. If you decide to take off your jacket, make sure you carry it carefully so that it does not wrinkle or become damaged.
