Sam Shipley and Jeff Halmos started their own line in New York after leaving the West Coast design team Trovata, which they helped found in 2002. Their newer venture might be described as Trovata grown-up—slender suits, dress shirts, cardigans, and ties—and they were nominated for the GQ/CFDA Best New Designer Award in 2009.
