American super car manufacturer, Shelby SuperCars (SSC) has just released their latest contribution to the world of super cars as well as to all automobile enthusiasts. After the release of its prestigious world record breaking Aero, Shelby SuperCars now offers us a new breed of concept.
After several years of rigorous research and design, the company has finally called the new car the TUATARA. Lead Designer, Founder as well as CEO of SSC, Jerod Shelby, says that, ‘The design specifications for the Next Generation SSC were so extreme; we knew early on that a proper name would be a key piece of the puzzle for this project’.
The name “TUATARA”, which is given to the car is a direct imitation of a particular reptile that lives in New Zealand. The direct Maori translation of the word TUATARA means ‘peaks on the back’. The name is quite fitting to the car as the model also sports winglets at the back. Another feature of the Tuatara reptile was that it had the fastest evolving DNA. Among the world of automobiles, we can safely say that Shelby SuperCars is probably one of the most evolutionary car companies that are out there at present.
SSC frontman, Mr. Shelby goes on to say that, ‘Most manufacturers essentially use the same basic model and body shape for up to 10 years, while only making small refinements to it each year. After only three years in production wîth the Últimate Aero, SSC’s Tuatara is about to monumentally evolve in the areas of sophistication, design, aerodynamics and shear all – around performance. We felt that the fastest evolving DNA was a perfect definition of SSC’s latest project.’
