Sexy America Olivo, Exclusive Interview with…

We had a chance to sit down and interview this beautiful actress who you will be seeing a lot more of in 2009. Her name, America Olivo and you probably have seen her  in “General Hospital,” “How I Met Your Mother” or singing in the Latina pop group Soluna. She has no less than four films due in 2009, one of which hits theatres on February 13, 2009, which is the movie Friday the 13th. The other films consist of Transformers 2, The Storyteller and Bitch Slap. America is Spanish-Basque/Chilean/Italian, but sorry guys she is taken. However read our interview on the next page and see how you can improve your chances on dating someone just like America.

PINSTRIPE: With so many movies coming out next year, do you have time to date or are you dating anyone and do you have time to relax?

America Olivo: YIKES! Dating is difficult in this business, but I’ve been lucky to have healthy long term relationships, great friends, and a huge family… I’ve never dated anyone outside the entertainment industry, so I don’t know if that would work so well for me. My boyfriend understands the business, as he, too, is an actor. It helps that he is almost more excited for the success of my projects as I am. As far as relaxation goes…. Um, that and patience are not easy for me.  Working on it. I have been working with Nandhi from Amma Sanctuary, who has been training me in the discipline of meditation, the virtue of patience, and art of true relaxation. Someday!!!  Man, did I need it after jumping in and out of the heart of Camero in the insane world of Bitch Slap. Without relaxation/mediation techniques, I wouldn’t have been able to slow my heart down after the 9 minute girl fights as a hopped up, royally pissed off Bitch. Right after we wrapped Bitch Slap, I was almost immediately on a plane to Austin , Texas to film day and nights on Friday the 13th, which had my heart rate up even higher.  Again, mediation and relaxation, yes, super important, especially when you’re waking up feeling like Jason is in your room months after you wrap. Phew!!!, what a mind trip acting is.

PINSTRIPE: What other projects will you be working on?
America Olivo: Gosh, aside from Acting, I wear a lot of other hats in a given day. I am a singer/songwriter releasing two singles to radio and clubs soon, “Water from the Moon” and “Deja Vu” while I’m working on completing my album. I am also a Producer co-creating and co- executive producing a cooking show around celebrity chef and event coordinator, Amanda Marr. I am also a real estate investor, and occasional model. A lot of my time right now has been spent traveling for pleasure and business, and photo shoots and interviews promoting the much anticipated Bitch Slap movie! www.bitchslapmovie.com.

PINSTRIPE: What are 3 things you look for in a man when you first see him that attracts you?

America Olivo: First I look to see if he’s looking at me. Then, kindness/selflessness in his eyes, smile, and/or actions, then confidence, then curiosity/interest/hunger for adventurous living and open minded learning.

PINSTRIPE: Do you like men to wear jewelry?

America Olivo: If it looks good on him, absolutely! It completely depends on the person. Not a fan of dating anyone wearing a wedding band, however.  Also, not into earrings, especially hoops. A classy watch, a ring on a thumb, or middle finger. An interesting band around the wrist. A necklace, perhaps,  if it has meaning.  Dog tags are sexy, but only if you were issued them, not if you got them at the mall.  I do like jewelry that has meaning. I actually don’t wear jewelry at all. I don’t own a diamond.

PINSTRIPE: What does your daily diet consist of in order for you to stay so in shape?

America Olivo: Well, I’m a pescatarian (a type of vegetarian who eats fish, but no shell fish) and I don’t eat Soy nor many milk products. So, my diet is a bit limited. Eggs, sushi, nuts, vegetables, rice and beans, fish, salads, suppliants, protein bars, fruits, margarita, red wine, coffee, green tea with boba, and chips and salsa. Shopping lists are pretty easy. I ALWAYS find something on a menu. I hate when people make a fuss about whether or not I can eat at a restaurant they choose. Oh, and then there’s always dessert. Like Organic Pumpkin Pie from the Urth Cafe! Ugh!

PINSTRIPE: Which actor would you love to be working with and making a love scene?

America Olivo: Is it a bore if I say my boyfriend? Okay, aside from my boyfriend? I’ve been a huge Bruce Willis fan since I was a kid watching Moonlighting and Daniel Craig as Bond is too sexy, and Christian Bale in the Dark Knight… Hmmm.

PINSTRIPE: What were you doing before you acted?

America Olivo: Well, I’ve been acting since I was four in community theatre in Hidden Hills , CA . So before that??  Ha ha, I assume you mean professionally. I performed throughout junior high and high school as an actor, singer, and competitive debater, and went on to study at age 16 in performing arts school, California Institute of the Arts, Manhattan School of Music, and The Juilliard School.  Almost immediately after college I was offered a recording contract and from 1998 until 2004 I worked professionally as a singer with Soluna, my girl group band.  In 2004 I did a scripted sitcom pilot based on the true experiences of our band, Soluna, and I realized in front of a live studio audience, that I had to continue what I started as a kid, my love for acting.

PINSTRIPE: What is your favorite thing to do on a weekend?

America Olivo: Weekends are great for traveling. Either a road trip to see family, or a weekend getaway somewhere fun!

PINSTRIPE: What is your favorite movie?

America Olivo: Empire of the Sun

PINSTRIPE: Do you go to sleep in your underwear, naked or with pjs?

America Olivo: Naked in my underwear with pjs.

PINSTRIPE: Do you think that your man should go to sleep in his underwear, naked, or pjs?

America Olivo: Underwear

PINSTRIPE: What does a man have to do to get your interest or attention?

America Oliva: Be interested and attentive.

PINSTRIPE: When at a bar, does he have to buy you a drink for you to speak to him?

America Olivo: Do women actually say, “Yes” to this question?

PINSTRIPE: Who is your role model?

America Oliva: Oprah

PINSTRIPE: Want any kids or get married later?

America Olivo: Yes, and most likely, or my grandmother would never speak to me again.
