Robert Geller Menswear Spring 2012

Robert Geller presented a collection that emphasized a play on proportion and volume while offering up interesting mixes of fabrics. Mesh T-shirts and scarves were layered with tailored jackets with raw edges and boxy fits. Pants were alternately slouchy and draped — some with curious macramé cuffs — or skintight in leather. An urban gaucho feel was injected via oversize fedoras, a cinematic touch that might have been fresher if Lanvin hadn’t played it up so prominently in its fall collection. Still, Geller’s own vision came together in a directional yet wearable manner that set it apart from past seasons, including a jewelry collaboration with Scosha and an understated footwear line with Common Projects.
