Packing Essentials For Your Summer Holiday

summer holiday packing essentials

Whether you’re holidaying at home or abroad, make the most of your holiday time-out and take this chance to refresh your wardrobe. Packing for a holiday is always tricky, no matter the destination. You either overpack and take too much, or underestimate the weather and take too little. Here are a few packing essentials to add to your list for your holiday to keep you prepared for all scenarios.

A Casual Shirt

No matter how much sunscreen you put on, it’s always best to have another layer of sun protection. After a day sunbathing or out exploring, a casual shirt is always a great option to put on and shield yourself from any further sun exposure. Casual shirts are always good to dress up and down as well.

Sunglasses

So much more than just a fashion accessory, sunglasses can be a lifesaver in the bright sun or even on bright and overcast days. Sunglasses over much-needed eye protection in these environments and they can be styled to suit all of your outfits. Choose a pair which are suited to your face so that you look extra sharp whilst exploring the sights.

Hoodies

It doesn’t matter if you’re heading to Barcelona or Brighton, you’ll be glad that you added a few hoodies to your case if the weather decides to take a turn for the worst. Thanks to the rise in streetwear clothing, there are so many hoodies you can choose from that will make you feel and look good in the cooler weather.

Swimming Shorts

When you’re on holiday, you don’t need to follow a dress code. This is a great time to embrace the freedom of wearing what you want when you want. Swimming shorts are an essential holiday item, especially for taking a dip in the pool or heading to the beach. Chino shorts are also a good idea and are perfect for wearing on particularly hot days or for dressing up with a shirt in the evenings.

Basic T-Shirts

Plain cotton T-shirts are a holiday essential. They’re multi-purpose and comfortable and can be worn with swim shorts to the beach or in the evening layered with a casual shirt. Pack at least two to three for a weeks holiday (alongside shirts and polo shirts), as you’ll never know when they’ll come in handy.

Shoes

Whilst this may seem obvious, it’s not unusual for people to pack too many shoes, which then takes up a lot of valuable packing space, or the wrong type of shoes on holiday with them. Take a comfortable pair of trainers for the days you’ll be doing a lot of walking or heading out for dinner. Flip flops are a must for those days spent lounging on the beach or by the pool, too, and will keep your feet cool.
