New Samsung Galaxy S6 and Edge with wireless charging. At long last, the wonderful world of wireless charging is upon us and comes built-in to the new Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge just announced over the weekend in Barcelona Spain. The new flagship phone will also come in an S6 Edge variety toting the curved screen that spills over onto both outer edges of the device.
The new Built-in QI Wireless standard will open the door for not only wireless mat style charging but also device to device power sharing.
And yes, Samsung is ditching the plastic case in favor of a beautiful new metal case design for it’s Samsung Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge devices. But they will no longer be water-resistant like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy S5 Active and more importantly they will no longer have a microSD card slot under the hood.
The new flagship phones are equipped with 5.1″ Quad HD Super AMOLED displays 577PPI at 2560×1440 resolution, a 16MP rear firing camera with 0.7 second activation. Under the hood is the new 64-bit Octa-core CPU which hopefully makes it to the states this time around.
The new Galaxy S6 Edge utilizes the extended screen real estate to quickly access social media and apps. The screen can also personalize color so you can see the visual glow of who might be trying to call you even with the phone face down.
In addition the new flagship S6 and S6 Edge promise upgraded 5mp front facing cameras with a new 120 degree wide angle lens, quicker access to the camera app with double click home button to quick snap photos, 64 bit processors, quicker charge times. You can even snap the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge into a new version of the Gear VR kit that uses the S6/S6 Edge as a screen.
Samsung also revealed Samsung Pay, like Apple Pay and Google Pay allow you to use your phone to transmit payment to an establishment. The Samsung Pay feature utilizes an NFC chip reader at the vendors location that can read your phone’s payment info.
