Designer Daisuke Obana used the Sixties title sequences of Saul Bass — who created the enthralling openings for films like “North by Northwest” and “The Man With the Golden Arm” — as a jumping off point for his spring N.Hoolywood collection. The outcome was a geek-chic lineup: sweaters and pants adorned with motifs from Bass’ signature graphics, ponchos printed with a jumble of “The End” script and knits with colorful geometry that resembled TV test patterns. Obana gets three stars for his esoteric inspiration, but two for how the entire collection actually played out.
