Mothers and Apple Pies, Audi and All Wheel Drives

Just the same way mothers and apple pies go together, so do all-wheel drives and Audi. The German Automotive Company has recently released the Clubsport Quattro and fashion it as their reason for existence.

After Audi launched the hatchback specifically in front wheel drive only, they finally realized that they had to start work on the back wheel tractions as well. For us to see what a fine example Audi can set to other cars, they have pit on display the A1 Clubsport Quattro concept among the other 18 vehicles that are there on display at Worthersee.

The fiery little beast is built upon a highly tuned 2.5-liter engine with just less than 500 horsepower,  495bhp with 468 ft lbs of torque to be exact. Curb weight is a mere 1390kg that’s about 3,000 lbs. Wow almost 500 horse with almost as much torque in a 3k body, nice!  The engine is optimized by a direct injection which is channeled through all four wheels along with a six speed manual. Audi claims that the A1 Quattro can hit speeds from 0-100 kmph, that’s 0-60 mph in a miniscule 3.7 seconds. It can easily double this speed in 10.9 seconds. Top speed is limited to 155 mph.  I can’t wait to test drive one.  hint hint Audi?

The package of the body seems very bulky and aggressive but still has an aerodynamic feel to it. The entire car is bedecked in matte white paint with a carbon fiber roof. The car also has a side exhaust and wheels that have 19 inch alloys. Although the car has 500 horses of muscle power while the following models which are the S1 and RS1 are likely to have more horsepower, hardcore gamers can still check out the A1 in Need For Speed World.
