Which Moccassins Are Your Favorite?

Whenever I wear formals, I notice that my hands always reach out for the moccasins first as far as the shoes are concerned. What can I say, I’m a sucker for the Moccasins and nothing’s better than a brown pair of moccasins. Here are a few of favorites that I’ve put together for you. These aren’t your daddy’s blue suede shoes.

Canadian brand “Raised by Wolves” has just collaborated with Laurentian Chief on a pair of stylish moccasins. “Following traditional First Nations manufacturing techniques, the shoes are constructed of soft, yet durable Canadian cowhide suede, with a thin crepe sole, branded (as in stamped with hot metal) leather foot bed, zigzag pattern collar and contrast brown leather laces and stitching” Not only are these super comfortable, but they have a look that stands out from the crowd.

While it might be getting a bit too wet outside to reasonably wear these brown suede moccasins from A.P.C. outdoors, that doesn’t put them any lower on my mid year wish list. Rich brown suede is stitched together in France and finished off with a beautiful gold tone top buckle for that European sense of elegance.

In between boat shoes, hiking boots, moccasins and dress shoes sits that WASPish sweet spot – the boat boot, that’s perfect for those expeditions out of the house on Nantucket Island, and you’re not quite sure if you’re going to the shore or the woods. That’s when you wear Pointer‘s Calum, a remarkably astute shoe, perfect for those rough days of late summer, early fall.

Paul smith has released a great suede moccasin boot. There are plenty of boat-shoes, boots and moccasins on the market right now, but when one comes along that is so well conceived people are bound to take notice (Also try Moccasins on Project-North). The simple quality of construction and well thought out design are synonymous with the Paul Smith name, but the great thing about this boot is it’s lack of excess. There are no beads flying, no tassels flopping, and nothing that’s taking away more than it’s giving to the design.
