You don’t have to have a smartphone to get onto one of the most popular services in the world, Facebook of course.  Everyone and their mother, literally is or will be or have been on it at sometime in their lives.

Casey Chan of Gizmodo gave us a good Laugh Out Loud with his article we quoted above. If you have any sympathy for the techno-peasants of the world, you would want to grant them what?  You guessed it, a dummied down java-based version of Facebook!

Facebook also announced a website for dumbphones, 0.facebook.com for regular cellphones to visit so their experience is as fast as it can be. 2,500 devices from all the major manufacturers, Sony Ericsson, LG and more will have access to popular functions of facebook pictures, wall, posts, galleries, contacts…

Facebook was busy making deals. Select carriers in various countries are offering a 90 free data access period for users with Facebook Feature Phones as they have come to have been named.  Dialog (Sri Lanka), Life (Ukraine), Play (Poland), StarHub (Singapore), STC (Saudi Arabia), Three (Hong Kong), Tunisiana (Tunisia), Viva (Dominican Republic), Vodafone (Romania), Mobilicity (Canada), Reliance (India), Telcel (Mexico), TIM (Brazil), Vivacom (Bulgaria)
