Know About Diverse Types of Commercial Doors Available

A Commercial door is an essential item of a building which provides security, privacy, climatic protection and many other conveniences for the house owner. The strength and durability of the door depending upon its material of construction of the hinged, sliding, or revolving barrier at the entrance to a building, room, or vehicle, or in the framework of a cupboard. Irrespective of the manufacturer or supplier, whether it is wood or metal, the following components and door types are always associated with the same.

Types of Doors Based on the Material of Manufacture

There is a wide variety of readymade doors and windows which can be manufactured as per size requirement decided by the builder. Based on the material of manufacture, the pros and cons of the door are given below:

Wooden Doors

Traditionally, timber or wood as it is prevalently known has been the mainstay for the manufacture and repair of commercial doors. Wood is available in the market in a wide range and its selection should be made based on the properties of longevity and the budget of the house owner. They are best placed for exterior locations.

1. Battened and Ledged Doors

Battened and ledged doors are in the most simpler design and are used from very early ages. Such doors consist of vertical battens of wood,  at about 35 mm thicknesses which are normally tongue and groove jointed. This type is commonly adopted for toilets, baths, WC etc and also in houses where the economy is more important.

2. Framed and Paneled Doors

These types of doors are mostly used for residences. Wood is used to make the door frame and the shutter panels of timber, plywood, block board, hardboard, etc. A number of designs can make such doors quite decorative. The panels can also be made of glass.

3. Flush Doors

A flush door is a smoother design door, made of plywood or MDF Fiber board fixed over timber frame which is lighter in weight. The frames can be made of wood, steel etc, which can hold its weight.

4. Glass Doors

The glass is usually provided for doors, mostly for paneling. However, if necessary, doors can be made out of glass. Normally the back doors are mostly made of glass which can provide an unobstructed view of the garden.

Glass front doors look very elegant but are little costly.

5. Steel Doors

Steel doors are efficient and are sturdier than other ones. Steel doors either can be solid or hollow. It is proven to be a good substitute for wood and is being used extensively for making frames.

6. PVC  Doors

PVC is a common term that is referred to as Poly Vinyl Chloride. It is fundamentally a plastic material. These doors are high on demand in the market these days. The advantages of using PVC are that they are termite proof, durable, anti-corrosive, lightweight, moisture-resistant etc. and also low cost.

7. Fiberglass

It is basically a glass from which fibers are drawn and are woven into cloth. It has good strength, and are lightweight, non-flammable and highly tensile. Resin bonded Glass fibers can be used to manufacture a wide range of products including door, and also bathtubs,  and windows etc. It is one of the hardened materials with relatively low costs of maintenance compared to wood and steel. Fiberglass doors are expected to be stable also.

8. Aluminum

Aluminum is a metal which has been put to a large number of uses due to being light in weight. A large number of products made out of aluminum are available in the market these days, including doors and windows commercially.

Commercial doors are available in the market made of a wide variety of material, design, cost, and aesthetic value. So wooden door market is facing a tough competition compared to the doors made from other sources of material.
