When the weather permits, a pool party is the perfect way to do all of these things while keeping everyone entertained in a relaxed, casual setting. Before you start to plan a pool party for you and all your closest friends, make sure it’s something you want to do! That might seem obvious, but you want to know what you’re getting into before you commit to the entire deal. Planning a party comes with some awesome perks like picking the guest list, customizing the vibes and decor and, of course, including all your favorite food and beverages. However, being the party host means you’re in charge of getting everything together and cleaning up afterward. Once you’ve decided to take on the job as host, it’s time for the fun part! This is the time for brainstorming your perfect party, what you want it to look like and other fun elements. During the first stage of planning, do think about setting a date, securing a location, deciding on roughly how many people will be invited and finding the perfect pair of party swim trunks. You don’t need to worry about smaller details, yet, like buying party supplies or getting a finalized headcount for the event.
Becoming a Pool Party Pro
If you frequent the pool party scene, you know it’s all about the vibes. You can never, ever go wrong with a meat and cheese board, a selection of chips and dips, fresh fruit and other party favorites that can be easily grabbed by those passing by the food table.
For beverages, make sure to do some extra prep. Even if the party is BYOB, it’s the host’s job to provide ice, cups and other common bar staples. Be sure to have sodas and lots of water on hand for those who don’t drink alcohol. If you’re feeling really creative, make a house cocktail in a punch bowl or beverage dispenser using your favorite liquor, juices, fruits and soda!
Include the Kiddos
Kids are arguably the best pool party guests because they know how to keep the party and pool games going. If you’re inviting younger guests to your pool party, it’s important to cater to them as well! Make them feel special by hosting a kids-only pool game or activity with prizes for the winners. Inviting more than a few kids? Curate a small area or table of kid-friendly snacks and drinks as well. If your own kids will be in attendance, go all out and coordinate boys’ swim trunks that match your own. Most importantly, plan on making memories and having a great time at your pool party.
