Girard-Perreguax: The New Face Of Tradition

On May 1st, one of New York Cities oldest landmarks Grand Central Station played host to the iconic luxury Swiss watch brand Girard-Perregaux.  It was the unveiling of the industries first print and online journal: The New Face Of Tradition, Eight Young Watchmakers and The Art of Making Time. The tour was launched at Cipriani where guest were greeted with refreshing drinks and mouth watering Hors d’oeuvres.  Guest were given a sneak peak of Girard-Perregaux latest novelties and a thorough look at some of their most historic, most renown Museum pieces.  In addition, guest were able to participate in a in-depth one-on-one with four young watchmakers. They demonstrated the importance of the movements and included hands-on lessons.

Laetitia Pino, one of four young watch makers, explains her role in the manufacturing. Working with the heart of the watch she explains the importance of keeping her tools sharp and clean, when putting together and taking apart a watch, for dust is a watchmakers worst enemy. The most fascinating thing about Laetitia is her obsession with puzzles.  The process of fitting pieces together is what inspired her to get into watchmaking. “I love fitting the different parts together to create a beautiful time piece.” –Laetitia Pino.

The New Face Of Tradition journal gives us a 21st century way to look at the incredibly talented watchmakers, not only as employees for their famed manufacture, but as artist.  The journal is also available at TheNewFaceofTradition.com where people can further explore these young watchmakers.

Girard-Perregaux has been the pioneer at the art of making time since 1791. The history of the brand can best be shown through legendary watches that combine a unique design and game-changing innovated technology. Using a three bridge concept, invented by Constant Girard-Perregaux in 1889, these classic time pieces are exquisite in function and aesthetics. Most time pieces are often made in 18k gold, white gold or rose and platinum and have an array of different leather straps. Available in many shapes and sizes, every collection is dedicated to mechanics with style.  Girard-Perregaux is one of the few watchmakers to combine all the skills of design and manufacture under the same roof, based in La Chaux-de-Fonds.  New York City was the first stop on this tour.  The Girard-Perregaux tour will later visit Bejing, Paris, and other international cities.
