On Thursday, November 3, 2011, Converse officially debuted DEFCON and Pro Leather 2K11 performance basketball shoes with a launch event held at Cedar Lake Studios in New York City.
Pinstripe Magazine was given a first look at the product before doors opened to celebrate the launch. Basketball enthusiast Bobbito Garcia hosted while Jeff Mokos, Converse Senior Designer, Innovation, and Damion Silver, Converse Design Director introduced the Converse DEFCON and Pro Leather 2K11, alongside Team Converse athletes Chris Andersen of the Denver Nuggets, Lou Williams of the Philadelphia 76ers, and Kyle Korver of the Chicago Bulls.
DJ Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Cool Bob Love kicked off the celebration spinning tunes followed by a set by DJ Reach. Prominent guests included: actor Maximillan Tapper, models Mey Bun and Drew Vision, designers Dee and Ricky Jackson, TV personality Coltrane Curtis, basketball player Corey “Homicide” Williams, and Nick Yates from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
