The latest technology is impossible to miss nowadays, as it seems like there’s a new device every month. Although technology is largely based on personal use, it goes well beyond personal devices; there’s even technology for your mattress. It’s safe to assume that most of us carry smartphones in our pockets and have computers, laptops, or tablets. While having several devices seems like overkill at times, some of us need several devices for work or school. In addition, many of us simply enjoy technology. But with all these electronics in our daily lives, there are several mistakes you can make that could harm your device’s battery, performance, and lifespan. If you’d like to learn the common mistakes people make with their electronics, check out our guide below.
Charging your device too much
Many of us have the habit of charging our device overnight, but that can actually fry your battery. A lot of companies have chips in their products that deactivate charging once the battery’s full, but that doesn’t protect the battery in the long run. The reason is that every time your battery drops to 99% battery, the device will begin charging again which puts unnecessary strain on the battery.
Failing to use a surge protector
There’s nothing more frustrating than spending all that money on the latest device only for it to get fried by a power surge. To keep your electronics safe, you need a surge protector. Ideally, you’ll have a surge protector on every device in your home, but we know that’s totally unrealistic. Instead, you should use a surge protector on big items like your TV, internet router, gaming consoles, and so on.
Not protecting the device
Let’s use an iPhone as an example. Apple takes time to create a product with a beautiful design—unfortunately, that design is slippery in essentially everyone’s hands, and it’s not just Apple. Most modern devices boast their thinness, but that also means there’s less to hold onto; nearly everyone eventually drops their phone and shatters their screen. Don’t be that person who doesn’t use a case and ends up with a broken screen. If you really don’t want a case, then make sure you have an extended warranty at the very least.
Not using the right cables
While we live in a wireless age, many devices still use cables. If you don’t use the right cable for your device, there are a couple of things that could go wrong. First, your device might not work at all. Second, your device might run slower than usual. For example, there’s no question that wireless charging is convenient, but charging your phone with a power cable is much faster. Since most devices connect via HDMI or USB, you should know the different HDMI and USB types and their uses.
Technology is an amazing tool in our daily and professionals. live For those of us who grew up with little to no technology at all, we’ve seen just how beneficial technology is when it’s used properly. For instance, technology helps your creativity; it has helped scientists find breakthroughs in science, medicine, and so much more. In other words, you don’t want to be the person who makes these common electronic mistakes; otherwise, it may ruin your devices and keep you from creating and working.
