Carhartt Lightweight Waterproof Low Hiker Fall 2013
The Fall weather is nearly upon us and that spells hiking and outdoor activity. I’m all about gear that performs and weight and stability are key when looking for any type of outdoor gear. You always start from the ground up and the Carhartt Men’s Lightweight Waterproof Low Hiker’s is a great choice for all you hikers, campers and casual streetwear that performs.
Sueded leather and nylon upper with padded collars and cushion tongue with OrthoLite® insoles give you the comfort you need when hiking for long periods of time. Comfort isn’t the only issue, the Low Hiker’s give you give you excellent traction with an aggressive tread pattern and enough lateral stability to go hiking virtually anyplace to spend some lengthy quality time together.
In my time with the Low Hikers, I was able to take them up and down the Appalachian Trail in the NY Catskill mountains for a few days and I was very pleased with the performance. They are lightweight and I found the composite safety toe pretty handy as I love to kick huge boulders when my legs get tired. The traction was great over ruble and broken rocky areas as well as flatter root infested terrain.
The Low Hiker features a composite safety toe for protection and cement construction with EVA midsole for comfort as well as stability. The ethylene vinyl acetate or EVA midsole is a foam footbed layer with thousands of bubbles that will breathe and compress a bit each time you take a step to absorb impacts.
Originally known for their outstanding outdoor work apparel; Carhartt is still a family owned operation and still makes the some of the most durable outdoor apparel.
