If you thought the virtual CAD renderings of concept car were nice, check out the incarnation of the BMW i8 Spyder hybrid concept car and some videos of her body and watch and listen as she stretches her legs a bit. The BMW i8 Spyder is a hybrid plugin electric car with a turbocharged 3 cylinder rear gas/petrol powered engine and the i3’s electric motor for the front.

Check out the BMW i8 Spyder stretching her legs and taking a little cruise out on some closed roads late night. We don’t see any performance video here, just some cruising and BMW baby-ing their prototype concept i8 Sypder, but what you do see and hear is the futuristic sound and lines of a virtual car come to life and the whine of the electric motor that just screams coooooool!

You have the choice of running either all electric at 250Nm of torque, all petrol at 300Nm of torque or utilize both for 550Nm combined which will get you 0-100 kph or 0-62mph in 5 seconds flat. Top speed is 250kph or 155mph limited with an electronic governor. The BMW i8 Concept Spyder is constructed using an extensive combination of aluminum components and carbon fiber reinforced plastics, retaining structural rigidity and 50:50 weight balance with a curb weight of 1,630 kg or about 3,590 lbs.

The Range for BMW i8 Spyder’s electric motor is 27-30km or 17-19 miles, 1:45 min for a full charge and the petrol/gas motor will get you an impressive 100/km or 94mpg.

Also showcased at the Geneva Motor Show 2012, we are looking forward to see more from BMW tomorrow at the NY International Auto Show 2012 at the Jacob K. Javits Center in NYC. Hope to see you all there!
