Biggest Men’s Streetwear Trends For Summer 2018

men's streetwear

2017 was a huge year for men’s streetwear. With massive collaborations between brands, such as Supreme x Louis Vuitton, completely upping the streetwear game and with huge fashion houses like Gucci and Balenciaga dropping streetwear clothing collections, 2017 became the year that streetwear and fashion finally merged as one.

2018 is showing that it’s looking set to do the same. However, there are some trends that are becoming more prominent. With that being said, there are some trends that are set to completely dominate the streetwear landscape for the rest of the year.

Throwback Thursday

This trend was extremely prominent in 2017, so we’re set to see a lot of throwback fashion pieces this year. Materials that are being used for the trend are expanding and corduroy, suede and velour are, without a doubt, the most popular fabrics being used. Headed by Stüssy and adidas, this huge interest and backing is sure to include some other materials over the coming months.

Big Branding

Just a couple of seasons ago, big logos or graphics on t-shirts we’re seen as being “too ostentatious”. But, thanks to brands such as Off-White and Supreme, big and bold branding is everywhere this season. Supreme’s collab with Louis Vuitton was, essentially, logo heaven and the collection had the iconic monogram peppered across the range. Since then, pretty much every huge fashion house has tapped into the trend and is bigger than ever.

Dad Fashion

Dubbed the marmite of streetwear, you will either love or hate dad fashion. Thanks to brands such as Balenciaga and Martine Rose, this trend isn’t going to be heading anywhere anytime soon. Made up of ugly, chunky sneakers, dad caps, puffer jackets and weird t-shirts, dad fashion is set to have a lot more in store over the next few months.

Military Inspired

Without a doubt, the military inspired trend is the most obvious of 2018. With every hour that passes, it seems that another brand drops a new military collection for the SS18 season. There is something about military inspired clothing that makes it seem timeless and versatile, and the trend has had numerous resurgents over the past few years. Brands like BAPE and Givenchy have been frontrunners in the military inspiration fashion game since the season started.

Oversized

The saying is that less is more, but if you’re talking about the oversized trend them more is more. Literally. Fronted by fashion-forward prints, the oversized trend has influenced many designers offerings this season. With oversized shorts, hoodies and even coats, everything has had a size boost this season. Men’s loungewear is looking to be a focus for this trend, with oversized hoodies and joggers a real favourite for the look.
