Choose a Chaise Lounge for Added Comfort

Chaise lounges are simple pieces of furniture that allow you to do just as the name suggests, lounge. It’s the perfect piece to add to an empty area that you don’t know what to do with. They also work when you just want to add another comfort level to a room.

One room where your comfort is front and center is the bedroom. The right mattress is definitely part of the comfort formula, but incorporating a chaise into the design elevates your relaxation. There are a few things to consider before you start searching for a lounge. We’ll cover them here in this article.

What’s your Style

Chaise lounges come in a variety of styles, so you’ll have to decide which complements your tastes. There’s the lounge chair which has an elongated seat and a back that is often adjustable. You can find an angle that works for whatever activity you’re performing. If you’re watching tv, you can adjust the back so you’re sitting at a comfortable angle, and if you’re lounging, you can recline.

Another style called the duchess brisée consists of two parts. There’s the chair with a long footstool to support your lower half. Victorian styles lounges were once called fainting couches. These are distinguished by the intricate ornate detailing sculpted into the legs, base, and any other woodwork accompanying the piece. These are usually at a higher price point than other styles.

Quality is important

Something else to look for as you browse bedroom chaise lounges is the kind of material used for upholstering. Since the lounge is going inside, your options are endless. Pick a luxurious material like velvet or silk to give the room a touch of class. Or, if you’re really feeling fancy, a brocade pattern is very sophisticated.

Sticking with classy materials, leather is another way to introduce elegance to your design. It also works well with other furniture and won’t disrupt the flow of the space. Full-grain leather is the highest quality and, therefore, the most expensive leather option. Top-grain, split-grain, and bonded leather are less expensive options if you have a strict budget.

Faux leather is a great choice for those who don’t want to use genuine leather. Much like leather, the faux option is durable and easy to maintain. You can have the look and feel of genuine leather without feeling guilty.

Microfiber is another viable alternative to leather that is also hypoallergenic. It’s woven tightly with tiny fibers, so dust and mites have a hard time penetrating the surface and sinking into the cushions. If you prefer a modern look, check for linen or suede options.

If you want to place the lounge in a space that receives a ton of natural sunlight, a polyester blend is best. It stands up well to daily sun exposure, unlike many other fabrics. Polyester also keeps its shape and won’t look saggy as time passes.

Use this information to choose a chaise lounge that not only looks great but fits your lifestyle needs also.
