Part of golf’s appeal is that it can take you to places you would never have visited otherwise. There are so many noteworthy courses all over the States, and even the world, one can travel to for a nice game. Be that as it may, you can’t deny that these locations can be quite expensive. It’s always a letdown when you get excited about a certain club and then realize that you can’t justify the price. If you’re looking for quality golf courses at a great value, look no further. Here are some of the best bang-for-your-buck golf courses in the U.S.
Sweetens Cove Golf Club – South Pittsburg, Tennessee
This course started out as a small course called Sequatchie Valley, but it was revamped in 2013 by architect Rob Collins and his construction partner Tad King. Taking influence from one of the best golf courses, Augusta National, the 18-hole layout boasts distinctive contours and diverse bunker types. And you can walk it all for just $35.
The Golf Courses of Lawsonia – Green Lake, Wisconsin
The longstanding Lawsonia Links Course is favored as a classic. Now, it has been fortified with turf and trees to not only make it more visually appealing, but also to enhance play on its solid surfaces. The overall design of Bill Langford and Ted Moreau has not been changed, though, maintaining its 1920s style. If you visit after October 3, it’s $35 for walking.
The Club at Sunrise – Las Vegas, Nevada
Vegas is already a prime destination for its flashy casinos and extravagant buffets, but you might not realize that it’s also home to some first-rate, affordable golf. The Club at Sunrise sits right near the famed Las Vegas Strip and was first designed as The Winterwood Golf Club in 1964 by Dick Wilson and Joe Lee. In 2016, it was refashioned into The Club at Sunrise by architect Randy Heckenkemper. A Par 72 golf course of a total of 6503 yards, it features a design fit for golfers of all skill levels. There’s also a putting practice area and a driving range, so you can work on your short- and long-game shots. Weekday tee times are available starting at $29.
