Eric Larsen Rockin Citizen ECO Drive Watch
If you love watches you know battery replacement happens more often than you’d like. If you’re in a performance oriented sport having your watch fail on you at the worst time is a big concern. No one knows this quite as intimately as Eric Larsen who’s polar expeditions lead him to journey to the North Pole. Eric documents his fantastic journey to the top in his new book “On Thin Ice, An epic final quest into the melting arctic“.
Top of the world ma!
The 2014 expedition spanned a total of 2 hard months. It must have been incredibly difficult to say the least with life threatening travel and dwindling supplies marching over the melting polar ice cap that is ever shrinking due to global warming. The sheer drive and determination it must have taken to strive for a goal that has no immediate fanfare is a testament to Eric Larsen’s and partner in crime Ryan Water’s mental and physical fortitude. Truly an impressive journey to the top of the world.
A Watch that Never needs a Battery
Citizen embraces efficiency and reliability with it’s ECO-Drive technology which powers the line of watches from any light source natural or artificial. The ECO-Drive technology was actually invented by Citizen in 1976 and has now incorporated this functional technology across the Citizen line of watches including the popular Citizen Satellite Wave and ECO-Drive lines. Never having to replace a battery is more than just a welcome convenience. It allows you to rely on a timekeeping piece with up to 6 months of reserve power, even when stored in the pitch dark.
The ECO-Drive technology converts any source of light into power and it doesn’t even need to be direct light. If you’ve ever dealt with any solar charging device, you know it often sounds better than it works. Not the case with the Citizen ECO-Drive technology which is able to charge your watch from ambient or dim lighting as well.
Each ECO-Drive analog timepiece is engineered with a light level indicator that detects the intensity of light and displays the level of electricity being generated for easy power management.
