The Unit, with the antenna measures 11.65” H x 2.70” W x 2.17” D or (296 mm x 68.5 mm x 55.2 mm) and weighs 9.61 oz. or 272.3 g. Features illuminated function keys and backlit LCD display. It comes equipped with a Noise-canceling microphone, NOAA weather radio, Weather Alert, BURP technology which will vibrate water out of the speaker grill in the event you are in rough seas or heavy downpour.

The MR HH450 Dual features both VHF & GMRS Channel Dual-Band functionality. The GMRS or General Mobile Radio Service is the standard for consumer two-way communication giving you compatibility with any other GMRS radios in your possession or area. The Very High Frequency band or VHF maritime mobile radio band is used exclusively for Marine vessels large and small using the frequency range between 156.0 and 162.025 MHz allowing you to communicate with anyone on the water, lake, river or open sea within range. The MR HH450 Dual is also engineered to operate on USA, Canada and International Channel Maps and if you’re worried about eves droppers, you can configure up to 1815 possible GMRS privacy combinations for a more secluded communication.

Weather Alerts with Specific Area Message Encoding or S.A.M.E provides you with real time local area weather alerts and NOAA weather channels provide national All Hazards and weather information. You are able to monitor 3 channels simultaneously; channel 16 for emergency marine situations and 2 additional user selected channels. You’re also able to scan channels automatically for chatter.

Using the MR HH450 Dual and MR HH450 Camo is fairly easy once you’ve familiarized yourself with the wealth of information on your LCD screen. The icons and button layout quickly become familiar after a short orientation period and the units deliver clear communications on both land and sea. The maximum range on the radios will vary according to your surroundings. The units are rated for up to potentially 28 miles, that doesn’t mean you’ll get that unless your on a flat salt bed lake you may get some extended range, but the signal and performance is ample given the surrounding terrain.

You need to worry about power when you’re out in the field, so having the option to tweak power output is a wonderful thing. You’re able to select from a 1,3 or 6 watt signal output on VHF and a 1, 2 or 3 watt signal output on GMRS. Rewind-Say-Again records the last 20 seconds of incoming audio so you can replay it back if you didn’t understand it the first time; comes in handy on the water. This is a great feature when it’s raining and winds are blowing out on the water.
