The Richard Mille RM 39-01 Aviation E6-B, which is a variation of the RM 039 tourbillon flyback caliber Aviation watch that is constructed of 1,000 components. The RM 39-01 blends aeronautics and watchmaking incorporating titanium, carbon nanofiber, orthorhombic titanium aluminide, ARCAP and tungsten carbide materials for both aesthetic and mechanical properties.

The RM 39-01 uses the RMAC2 automatic caliber to drive the men’s timepiece and features a flyback chronograph, UTC and countdown functions with an oversized date at 12 o’clock, a month display and a variable geometry rotor.

Approximately 620 components and 62 rubies make up the Richard Mille RM Aviation 39-01 E6B and comes fashioned with a special feature-locking mechanism locking crown. There is a 50 hour power reserve.

Designed as a flight navigation instrument the RM 39-01 features the E6B slide rule (invented by Lieutenant Philip Dalton of the United States in the 1930’s) is used to calculate fuel consumption, flight times, ground speed, density altitude and wind influence. It can also convert units of measure quickly (knots/kms/gallons/ litres/feet/kgs/lbs).

Several months were taken to optimize the adjustment action and readability of this complex informational bezel. The E6B slide rule, requires no power and remains the most accurate means of calculation for pilots today in determining required fuel load and density altitude, information essential for take-off and landing.
