What to wear for a wedding

Summer and Fall are notorious for weddings and we are sure there is one right around the corner so you can get your drink on and eat as much as you can. Of course, you will also need to know what to wear so you don’t embarrass your mate by wearing your father’s hand-me-downs.

Women know they are never suppose to wear white or any color the bridesmaids will be wearing, it’s just a rule of thumb. So for us men, a rule of thumb is never look better than the bride or the groom. If the groom is going to be wearing a tuxedo and you are only a guest then make sure you are not wearing one and instead wear a black or navy suit. Unless of course the wedding is a black tie affair, you are the best man, part of the groomsmen or asked to wear a tux then you should never think it’s ok to show up wearing one.

Usually weddings are black tie optional or semi formal. So what that means is if it’s black tie optional, a tux is optional but not required and instead a black suit with black tie will do the trick. If the wedding is semi formal then a black tie with colorful tie or a different color suit will work. Just make sure you don’t show up wearing that white, Miami Vice looking suit or loud color suit you were suppose to throw out in the 80’s.

Now, if you are going to destination wedding then make sure you first look at the invite and see what is the appropriate dress code. Sometimes a beach wedding will require you to wear all white, no blazer/suit or you may have to still wear a suit so this is when a tan or seersucker suit will work.

So you are now ready to attend the next wedding you get invited to. All you need to worry about now is how much will you be giving the couple as their wedding gift. Remember, you always need to pay per plate so the minimum to give at a wedding is $100 if going alone and $200 if going with someone else. If you need someone else to go with, we at Pinstripe are sure we can find a staff member to go with you. We just expect the bar to be open bar all night and someone to bring us home safely at the end of the night.
