Nikon is back and has announced their entry-level DSLR the Nikon D3200 which has been referred to by Nikon as the HD-SLR Camera. The newest addition to the Nikon DSLR line-up, the Nikon D3200 DSLR packs plenty of pixels to the punch offering 24.2 megapixel DX format CMOS sensor. The D3200 carries on in the Nikon tradition of quality and performance adding in Full HD 1080p resolution for video with full-time autofocus allowing you the versatility to capture the moment the way you want to remember it. The D3200 packs plenty of pixels and comes in just over $900 with an 18-55mm VR Nikkor lens or $699 for the body only. Available in late April 2012 from Nikon in Red or Black DSLR body.

The Nikon D3200 adds an Expeed 3 image processor to achieve 4 frames per second and a vivid 920,000 3 inch high-resolution LCD is fixed to the rear. An 11 point autofocus system with a ISO range from 100 – 6400, expandable to 12,800 gives you the versatility to grab those extremely low lighting shots. Metering modes offered: Multi-meter, Center-weighted and Spot AF-area.

Weighing at about 505g or 1.11lbs, the lighter D3200 DSLR is very similar to the D5100 body in both size and layout, except for the rotating LCD screen. The D3200 adds in an electronic tutorial/guide, an upgraded version of shooting guide for the previous D3100 to help the Nikon D3200 even more user friendly for novice or casual photographers.

Storage is handled by SD/SDHC/SDXC UHS-1 compliant media and records Full HD 1080p resolution video in MPEG-4 or H.264 formats, NTSC or PAL, at 24/25/30 fps for 1920×1080, 25/30 fps for 640×424 and a nice 50/60 fps at 1280 x 720 resolutions giving you some options for smooth slow motion video. We love the full-time autofocus when shooting HD video, eliminating the need to constantly check and focus on your subject matter, leaving you to concentrate on what your recording. An HDMI output port allows for easy viewing on HDTV’s and monitors.

The Nikon D3200 DSLR also supports the WU-1a Wireless Mobile adapter which will enable you to wirelessly send images to mobile devices, smartphones and tablets, preview an image before shooting and control the camera remotely up to about 50ft away.

Additionally the integration of a 3.5mm port for external microphone comes in very handy for recording audio more precisely.

The Nikon D3200 is an excellent choice for the all in one entry level DSLR with plenty of pixel power and video resolution to enhance your subject matter.
