Apple Announces iPad 3, available March 16th, Pre-Order Today!
Apple Announces iPad 3, available March 16th, Pre-Order Today! You don’t have to make it out to San Franscisco to see the Apple event. For the first time that I can remember, Apple is actually providing full streaming video to the keynote and Apple product launch! Not to mention that the iPad 3 will be available 1 week and not the typical 1 month to rollout on Jobs’ watch. Out-powering an Xbox 360 or even a Playstation 3 from a graphics and memory aspect, the iPad 3 is certainly no slouch at gaming. Games like Dungeons from Epic, use the Unreal gaming engine to unlock the true potential of graphics and gaming performance for the iPad 3.
The iPad 3 has been upgraded with a Retina Display, brought over from the iPhone 4s. It sports a 9.7 inch screen for a full HD experience; Videos, Photos, icons, txt. Your home 1080p HD LCD/LED TV is 1920×1080 pixels. The iPad 3’s resolution is 2048×1536 pixels, that’s 264 pixels per inch or 3.1 million pixels, the most ever in a mobile device offering outstanding clarity and color saturation.
If you hold the iPad 15 inches or closer, iPhone 10 or less, has enough pixels so that the retina in your eye cannot distinguish the individual pixels, hence the name ‘Retina Display’.
The all new A5X Dual-Core & Quad-Core Graphics chip is introduced to the iPad 3 to bring all that beautiful pixelege to you without sacrificing battery life and processing and rendering speed. The iPad 2 used an A5 chip, the iPad 3 uses an A5X, X representing the quad-core graphics. The A5 chip used in the iPad2 already doubled in benchmark performance to the NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip but now the Apple A5X quadrupals it.
The camera on the front side of the iPad is called the Facetime camera, the one on the back is the iSight camera. iPad 3 Features Auto-focus, Auto-Face Detection, Auto-Exposure and Auto-Focus lock, Auto-white balance, a 5 megapixel sensor iSight camera, backside illumination, with 5 element lens and hybrid IR filter optics system from the iPhone 4s camera and Apple-designed ISP which are preset filters and algorithms bulit into the A5X chip for photography.
We all know how taking video can be with an iPad, it’s tuff to hold that puppy still. Along with full 1080p HD video recording, iPad 3 offers video stabilization and temporal noise reduction that seem to be quite effective from the demo.
Now with Speech to text! Finally for the iPad and spilling over from the iPhone 4s is speech to text or aka Voice Dictation and supports voice localizations for US English, UK English, Australian English, French, German and Japanese. Mileage will vary.
iPad 3 supports EV-DO 3.1 mbps, HSPA 7.2 mbps (3G GSM Networks), HSPA+ 21 mbps, (Dual-Carrier) DC-HSDPA 42 mbps Europe, Austrailia and LTE (Long Term Evolution) or 4GLTE. LTE 4G Networks supported At&t, Verizon, Rogers, Bell and Telus. For the U.S., 2 versions will be released, 1 for LTE on AT&T and another for the Verizon 4G LTE.
At 9.4 milimeters and 1.4 lbs, the battery life as well as the price on the new iPad 3 is unaffected; 10 hrs of battery life, 9 hrs for 4g wireless; available in Black and White at $499 for 16gb, $599 for 32gb and $799 for 64gb WIFI variety. $629 for 16gb, $729 for 64gb, $829 for 64gb WIFI with 4G available March 16th 2012, pre-orders start today!
