7 Ways To Transform Your Bedroom Into An Oasis

The bedroom is one of the most lived in rooms in the home. Much of that time might be spent sleeping sure, but a bedroom is often enjoyed even when we are awake. In this post we’ll take a look at some top tips to transform your bedroom into an oasis where you can relax and get away from it all.

 

#1 – You Really Want Some Lighting Choices

Having one stark ceiling light isn’t really going to impart a relaxing vibe to any bedroom. You’ll at least want one or two lamps so you have some low light options. Another idea is to install a dimmer switch on the main overhead light so you can adjust the brightness to suit your needs and your mood.

It might also be worth considering some coloured lighting, which is really helpful if you want to create a romantic atmosphere.

 

#2 – Venetian Blinds for Your Windows

Venetian blinds have been a popular choice for so long because they simply one of the most versatile window dressings you can get. Not only do they look stylish, but Venetian blinds have quite a number of advantages, especially for bedrooms:

  • If you choose timber or aluminum Venetian blinds in a dark color, when they’re fully closed they are very effective at blocking out the daylight
  • You can angle the slats to let in light, but still have privacy
  • You can also open the windows and angle the slats to adjust the direction of the breeze
  • Venetian blinds are easy to maintain and keep clean
  • These blinds are very long lasting and never go out of fashion

 

#3 – Scented Candles and Aromatherapy

Nothing will make your bedroom feel more like a relaxing oasis or spa than to burn scented candles or aromatherapy oils. Not only can these have health benefits, they are also good for the mind, helping you clear blockages and negative energy, leaving you feeling more refreshed, revitalized and alive.

It’s only a simple thing and not very expensive, but it can make a huge difference to the mood of the bedroom.

#4 – Mood Music

No bedroom oasis would be complete without some subtle music to really set the tone and scene. To give your bedroom that spa feeling you won’t want loud or strident music, but something soothing and serene, like relaxation music or meditation music.

It could be as simple as having a small stereo in the bedroom, or you could get even more elaborate and have small speakers installed at strategic locations within the walls themselves, surrounding yourself with calming tunes.

 

#5 – Cold Tile Floors Are Not Cozy

If your bedroom is not carpeted, but has tiled or timber floors, you’ll want to at least cover part of the floor with a really nice rug. For starters, the rug will help to soften the sounds in the room, particularly any harsh noises. It’ll also give you a soft, warm surface on which to place your feet whenever you get into or out of bed.

Tiles or timber can look great, but carpet or a rug really give a bedroom that comfy, cozy warm feeling that’ll really make it feel like a private and luxurious sanctuary.

 

#6 – How About a Water Feature?

The water feature could be wall mounted or one that rests on the floor or a dresser. You won’t want something too big, not unless you have a very big bedroom with loads of space to work with.

There’s nothing like the look and sound of running water to take your mind off to a faraway place and relieve the stresses of the day. We all love mountain streams, waterfalls and the sound of the surf, so a water feature in your bedroom will definitely help transform the area into a genuine oasis.

 

#7 – If You Have the Space, Add Some Furniture

If you can do it, add in some more wooden furniture besides just a bed and dresser. A small two seater love seat is a great addition. It gives you a comfortable space to chill out, and can also double as a romantic corner of the room for those more intimate moments.

Extra furniture just adds even more comfort and softness to your bedroom oasis.
