In our minds, we always feel that any sort of hybrid car is probably the worst excuse for a new car and an even worse external design, but Japanese automakers, Honda are here to prove us wrong in that notion by showing us that hybrid and ugly don’t always have to go hand in hand and are in fact not one and the same. With the release of the CR-Z Hybrid, Honda has proven that they are capable of drawing the attention of the performance enthusiast with this six speed manual transmission drive.

The CR-Z’s engine is a 1.5 liter 4-cylinder i-VTEC Honda electric motor which has a bracing horsepower of 122 with a torque capacity of 128lb ft. It has a manual and automatic six speed transmission, and weighs in at around 2, 630 lbs. It can go from 0-60 mph in 9 seconds and has a top speed of 122 miles per hour. Its mileage is sufficiently reasonable at 31 miles per gallon in the city and 37 miles per gallon on the highway.

The car has a sporty look and even incorporates that reputation by being a two seater car. Even though it seems relatively small from the outside, its high quality silver mesh sports seats offer a surprising amount of space even for the larger driver.

However, a lot of people may be put off by the car’s mediocre performance, for the price, we think that the car is sporty enough. At a base price of $19,345 and $19,995 for the CVT model, we feel that this car is a steal.
